'Aging Out' occurs when an individual turns 18 and is forced out of the foster care system.
With no immediate family or support system, young adults aging out face unimaginable challenges.
Within 2-4 years of exiting foster care:
-
20% will become instantly homeless
-
40% will fail to complete high school
-
40% will turn to substance abuse

By intervening early, The Open Door House addresses these challenges head-on,
equipping young adults with the tools they need to break cycles of poverty, achieve stability, and thrive.

Each resident is immersed in a structured program that is based on 6 Pillars of Support, uniquely designed to provide all the resources and tools necessary to graduate our program in 12-18 months. Keep reading to learn how we provide a path of hope foryoung adults aging out of foster care to realize their God-given potential.
Our Pillars of Support
Coaching Team
Weekly meetings with an Open Door House Program Coach provide guidance and structure to keep residents on the path to success.
Comprehensive Health
With the support of program coaches, residents schedule medical, dental, and therapy appointments within their first 30 days. Monthly group counseling sessions further support their well-being.
Employment & Career Path
Residents receive support in finding appropriate jobs and exploring career opportunities. Career coaching connects them with resources to unlock their potential.
Education
We assist residents in completing high school, earning a GED, or pursuing higher education, such as college or trade programs, to ensure long-term success.
Money Management
Financial literacy is central to independence. Residents learn to open bank accounts, save money, pay off debt, and build credit, equipping them with the tools for financial stability.
Communtiy
Through mentoring programs and volunteer-led activities, residents build supportive networks and develop healthy adult connections.

Coming here was a huge weight off my shoulders. The team here and the people from the church have been so inspirational. It’s just an awesome team here to help girls in my situation get off the ground. Personally, since I don’t have so much family to go to, it’s always awesome to have other people in your life who care about you and want you to do good.
